Te Whare Rangi, a historic Victorian home dating back to 1858, provides a unique retreat with rich heritage, once the residence of renowned Nelson photographer William Tyree and former Mayor Edward Everett. The home boasts stunning views of Haulashore Island, which was formed by the new harbour entrance (The Cut) in 1906. Opposite The Cut, the Boulder Bank stretches 11 km to the north, while Tasman Bay and Abel Tasman National Park fill the central view. To the west, the dramatic Tasman and Arthur mountain ranges complete the picturesque scenery.

Abel Abode features a private, lockable room with a delightful garden view, creating a peaceful ambiance. While it may not offer the expansive views of some other rooms, its convenience is a standout feature. Guests can enjoy the amenities of the first-floor kitchen, cozy living room, and veranda. For added ease, a mini-fridge is provided in the room, and the first-floor spaces invite you to relax and dine outdoors or savor the serene surroundings from the veranda or garden area.

Enjoy modern amenities, including a Google Home Speaker, a Smart TV with Netflix, and super-fast WiFi with unlimited data. For music lovers, there's a digital baby grand piano.

Te Whare Rangi features unique apartments: Abel Abode, Tasman Suite, Middle Earth, and Puna Perch.

Abel Abode is located on the ground ???floor, along with Tasman Suite??. Each apartment has a private, lockable room and access to the shared public areas on the first-floor, ??????including the kitchen, living room, and veranda.

Young children - This property is not suitable for children under the age of 12. Please enquire before booking.

Noise in the area - The waterfront road is busy & all properties within this area are subject to some road noise. However, the evenings are typically quiet with much less traffic.

Car parking - Parking is on-street, nearby and free. We provide recommendations for parking in our arrival details. It is possible to use the driveway during arrival/departure to unload/load bags, but the driveway is steep and does not offer great visibility when exiting so a spotter and extra care is recommended when doing this.?

Check in & Check out

Check-in is possible anytime after 2pm or from noon where the option of early check-in has been purchased.?

Please try to arrive during business hours where possible (our team are available 7 days a week as late as 8pm).

Late arrivals after 8pm are available by agreement only. An additional charge of NZ$50.00 will apply.

Early check-in (12pm/noon and in some cases earlier) can usually be offered for an additional charge. Please request this at the time of booking or at least 24 hours prior to your arrival.

Check-out is to be completed by 10am on your day of departure unless ‘Late check-out’ has been purchased.
